Google has swooped in to rescue frustrated Pixel users who’ve been grappling with an annoying lock screen bug in the Android 15 Beta 3. Just two weeks after the initial release, the company has rolled out a minor update, Beta 3.1, that addresses the issue.

The pesky bug caused the lock screen to hijack touch input, prompting users to unlock their phones even when interacting with elements that didn’t require unlocking, like notifications or music controls. Imagine trying to change a song while your phone insists on a full unlock – not the smoothest experience.

This update also tackles a bug that occasionally caused biometric face authentication to fail. Additionally, Android 15 Beta 3.1 addresses a few other issues impacting overall system stability, connectivity, and audio quality.

While it’s not the most groundbreaking update, Beta 3.1 is a welcome relief for users who have been eagerly awaiting these fixes. The update is available for all Pixel devices from the Pixel 6 onwards. It’s worth noting that the security patch level remains at June 2024 since the July Android Security Bulletin has not been released yet.

If you’re part of the Android Beta Program, you can expect to receive the update over-the-air (OTA) automatically. Otherwise, you can also download the factory images or OTA files directly from Google’s website.

So, if you’ve been struggling with that finicky lock screen or unreliable face unlock, head over to your settings and grab the update. Your Pixel will thank you!
