Google is doubling down on making weather forecasting not just useful but truly immersive for its Pixel users. The latest updates to the Pixel Weather app bring two exciting features: Pollen count monitoring and Immersive weather vibrations, making your weather-checking experience feel more alive (or sneeze-proof) than ever before.
Feel the weather with haptics
Ever wished you could feel the weather without stepping outside? Pixel Weather’s new Immersive weather vibrations do exactly that. Exclusively available on the Pixel 8 series and newer, this feature matches haptic feedback with animated AI-generated cityscapes in the app. For instance, during a downpour, your phone will vibrate in sync with the “density of the rain,” giving you an interactive sensation of the weather.
This feature is turned on by default, but you can disable it via the app’s settings menu (as seen in the screenshots below). The app also smartly turns off haptics in dangerous weather — because no one needs their phone vibrating in the middle of a hurricane — and deactivates itself during Battery Saver mode to prioritize power efficiency.

Pollen alerts for allergy warriors
For those allergic to grass, trees, or weeds, Pixel Weather now includes a Pollen count card. This feature provides a 3- to 5-day forecast for pollen levels and lets you dive deeper into the stats by tapping on the card. Currently, the pollen tracking feature is only available in France, Germany, Italy, and the UK, but you can view the information from anywhere in the world. Google promises to expand this functionality in the near future.
The Pixel Weather app, which became widely downloadable via Google Play this October, has been steadily rolling out these features through server-side updates. You might notice these goodies pop up in the app’s menu or the bottom of your weather feed.
These updates are part of Google’s broader push to enhance weather tracking. For instance, AI-powered updates have already brought advanced insights like the AI Weather Report for Pixel 9 and Pixel Tablet users. Also, the ‘At A Glance’ widget now directly links to the Pixel Weather app, consolidating your weather experience in one place.
This update comes amidst a flurry of Google news. The tech giant is rumored to be working on a Google Pixel laptop and recently introduced features like Google VPN for Pixel Tablet users and Screen Time reminders across its devices. Whether it’s weather or workflow, Google seems intent on making every moment smarter and more seamless.
With these features rolling out across the Pixel lineup, Google is reimagining what a weather app can do — making it both a utility and an experience. So, whether you’re tracking pollen for your morning jog or vibing to the rhythms of a rainy day, the Pixel Weather has you covered.
