The final beta of Android 15 QPR1 (Quarterly Platform Release) just wrapped up with the release of Beta 3, and Google’s already eyeing the next frontier: Android 15 QPR2 Beta, set to launch in March 2025. But if you’re in the QPR1 beta, you’ll want to pay close attention to the exit strategy here — or you might just be locked in for the ride to March.

For those enrolled in the QPR1 beta with build numbers starting with “AP4,” there’s no need to stress if you’d rather not upgrade to QPR2 just yet. To stick with the stable Android 15 QPR1 update (rolling out in December), you’ll need to exit the beta program. The steps? Easy: head over to the beta program page, opt out, and ignore any prompts for the “downgrade” OTA. Yes, it’ll literally say “Downgrade” in the update description. As long as you don’t click on it, no data wipe will haunt your phone. Just wait patiently until the stable December release lands on your device.

However, if you’re the adventurous type and want to plunge into QPR2 Beta 1, you’re in for a long haul — because once you upgrade, the only way out without wiping your data is at the end of QPR2’s beta phase, somewhere in Q1 2025.

For the Android 15 QPR1 stable users (AP3A build), things are simpler. Expect a regular over-the-air update in December to the stable QPR1 (AP41) with all the latest improvements from the final beta builds — no opting out needed.

The Reddit community is already buzzing with excitement about what Android 15 QPR2 could bring. While QPR1 focused on squashing bugs and bolstering stability, Google hints at even more fixes and refinements coming in QPR2. For now, it’s all about making the choice: stay with stable QPR1 or leap into the next beta cycle.

If you’re in the beta club, plan carefully — because March is a long way off, and you don’t want to be stuck if your curiosity takes you too far down the rabbit hole.
